Ah, I'm glad the celebrations are over. Not only does it mean the huge annoying traffic jams are finally over, I was also getting sick of the ostentatious hypocrisy. Invited foreign artists and firework shows every evening for a week? Oh, I'm sure that money couldn't possibly help in our currently abysmal economy. Plus, you know, there was just so much hypocrisy I could stomach from France's government ("I'm condemning the non-democratic regime change but I send official representatives at each and every occasion, and I've invited the Malagasy army to march in Paris for Bastille Day, yay!!!")

Not so good on the health side. I think I've caught Mom's pharyngitis (tonsillitis?), and most of yesterday's afternoon was spent sleeping (and yet I felt KO-ed and had a headache all the way!).

Nick got rid of the mouse that had been plaguing our house. By squishing it with his favorite wooden staff. Awesome, but also ewww...

Last thing: what the hell, Texas Republican Party? Did Fred Phelps take charge while I wasn't looking?
